How to turn your customer service into a competitive advantage

Show me a successful business and, I will point you to their customer services.’

There’s a saying that goes “Customers are the lifeline of every business.”  To simply put it,  No customer = No business. Below are 3 simple ways to turn your customer service operation into a competitive advantage

1. Be quick to respond

Who doesn’t love a quick response? Make your customer believe that you are available to serve 24/7. .   Ever heard of an auto-response feature?  Be sure to deploy one across all your customer touchpoints during out-of-office hours, you can thank me later.

2. Get to know your customers ….intimately

Ever heard the excuse “I have so many customers, it is difficult to get to know them all. Yes, it is, so get started now. The sooner the better. You won’t regret it.  Don’t just get to know them, get to know them on a more intimate level.

GTbank always sends birthday messages to its customers. So thoughtful right?

You can do the same, it’s not rocket science.

  • Document every sale Dedicate a calendar to your customers and note their special days
  • Be sure to reach out when that day arrives

Hey, Congratulations! You just won their heart. Every interaction with your customer should not be seen as a sales opportunity

3. Be attentive

Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) is one of the banks with the highest number of customers in Nigeria.

In 2014, GTbank introduced a student account under the campaign name GTCrea8. Fulfilling the demands of so many students that other banks couldn’t. The X Factor of this campaign was the “zero account, which made it possible to withdraw your money as a student to the last dime. In no time, every student (and even non-students) owned a bank account All GTbank did was listen to its customers via its customer feedback survey. Never underestimate the power of customer feedback.

As you can see, great customer service can provide your business with a competitive advantage. Invest the time, money and effort to provide your customers with the best experience possible, it would pay off long term.
